Today we sadly say goodbye to Ryosuke Oku. 
Ryosuke arrived from Japan in early March to begin the Diving and English program which is offered at Global Village Noosa. Today we would like to congratulate Ryosuke as he successfully completed the diving program and now is a qualified open water diver.

This week students from GV Noosa helped those devastated by the Australian bush fires by participating in a lunchtime BBQ.
Students were able to buy a sausage in bread and can of soft drink for $3.00. Together as a school we raised $360.00!!!!! Thank you to everyone who helped support those in need.

Marion Rimes couldn’t wait to tell her teacher Anjali Sheppard her IELTS results today.

Marion scored an amazing 9 for the reading and an overall of 7.5. She was thrilled, as she will now be able to choose the university course of her choice in Switzerland. Marion arrived in November 2008 to do the IELTS intensive course and has stayed to do a Cambridge Advanced Certificate course. Congratulations Marion on a wonderful result.

This week, GV Noosa students Tiffany and Franck, both from France, were invited to be on-air guests for Noosa community radio 101.3 FM.
Tiffany reports: “The programme runs every Thursday morning and is called “Who’s in town?”. We were asked all types of questions regarding our stay in Noosa and time at the College. It was a great opportunity to practice our English and a new experience for both of us. We had fun choosing our music and our classmates enjoyed listening to us!
We hope France, our country, was well represented!”

I’m the Croatian guy who attended CAE course from Jan to Apr 2008.
I have returned to Croatia, worked as a guide till Nov, then renewed my flat and decided to do the CPE exam here in Croatia in December. I’ve just got the result, I’ve passed! I believe I’ve passed because of my whole experience at GV Noosa. Thank you very much for everything. I’m now working as a translator and interpreter and hopefully I will get a job in the EU institutions. Say hi to Wendy for me, she was a great teacher.

As part of our regular focus on some of the great teachers we have here at GV Noosa, as well as the courses and students that they teach, this week we hear from Nathan
Nathan and Paolo
How long have you been teaching at GV Noosa and what did you do before you worked here?
I’ve been teaching at GV Noosa since March 2008, so that’s almost a year already. Before that, I used to teach English in Poland, which was an unforgettable experience and helped me to understand what it’s like for many of our students when they move to Australia and have to adapt to a completely new culture and environment.
Do you speak another language and what was your biggest challenge when learning it?
I’ve tried to, but I can’t say that I do. I did a bit of German, Italian and Polish but it’s hard to learn a language if you don’t have any real motivation for it! Having said that, I wouldn’t rule out trying again and I’d really like to learn Italian or maybe Spanish, as I’m planning on travelling around South America.
Which class are you teaching at the moment?
I’m currently teaching the Pre-Intermediate class, which I like as my group still have lots to learn but already have a good enough level of understanding for us to have plenty of fun while they learn.
Please tell us about a student in your class who you feel has made outstanding progress…
In terms of confidence, I’d have to say Paolo, a Brazilian student who will be leaving us next week to travel around Australia. He has been in my class since elementary level and can now handle a conversation very easily.
What do you most enjoy about teaching at GV Noosa?
The beach being so close! I just enjoy the relaxed working environment. I also like the students and how energetic, friendly and happy they are. It’s different when you live in a city.
If you weren’t a teacher, what job do you think you would be doing now?
Ideally, I’d be a writer. Otherwise, having experience in finance, I would probably work in financial planning; it’s a secure path to earning some decent money.
What do you like most about living on the Sunshine Coast?
Friends and family, as they all live here too. Apart from that, I would say the same thing as everyone else, namely the beach, surf and relaxed lifestyle.
What is your favourite cafe, restaurant, shop or place in Noosa?
I don’t really like cafés anymore but my favourite restaurant is Ricky’s, one of the most expensive places in Noosa!

Herbert Baschung caught up with old friends today.
Herbert studied here from September to November and came back today to say hi. He caught up with former classmate, Young Rae CHO who is leaving us today after 40 weeks. Herbert said, “ I took the Open Padi course whilst I was studying at GV Noosa and then I went on diving trips to Lady Elliot Isand on the Great Barrier Reef and to Coral Bay in Western Australia. I have had the most wonderful time and can only describe these places as paradise. However, my time in Noosa was the best. I had great teachers and great classmates and a great homestay family. Thank you GV.”

The trip to Noosa was part of a regular schedule of school visits by Boa Lingua staff. These visits are partly to ensure that Boa Lingua counsellors are up to date with all the latest news out here on the Sunshine Coast, and partly to ensure that the very high quality standards expected by Boa Lingua are being maintained by the school. Sandro and Stephanie also took the chance to catch up with current Boa Lingua students in the school.
Sandro works in the Zug office of Boa Lingua, and Stephanie is in the new Lausanne office.
Sandro and Stephanie also took the opportunity to visit GV Brisbane while they were in town.

Bruna Ehnke from Brazil, who is now studying at Sunshine Coast TAFE in nearby Mooloolaba, recently returned to GV Noosa and was happy to share some great memories of her time with us.

When I first came to Australia in 2005, I did not know what to expect and what would happen, but just a few days after I arrived here, I realised that it would be great.
I decided to come to Noosa the very first time I heard about here, and it was the best thing I could have done!
Noosa is just amazing! Wonderful beaches, the beautiful National Park, peaceful, quiet and exciting at the same time and there are a lot of things to do.
The wildlife here is beautiful and nobody believes me when I say that once there was a koala in my garden
There were no Brazilians here, so it was very good for my studies, as I had to speak English all the time.
The school is also great. I studied for ten months at GV Noosa, and each day I learnt and did something new. The teachers and staff are all so nice and always willing to help and answer our needs about studies or even problems we have outside the school. It may be a bit hard in the beginning, but it is so good when you realise how fast you can learn here and how much you can do by yourself.
The experience to live with an Australian family and have friends from the entire world was great, and that is why I decided to come back to do further studies here.
I have many friends that left GV Noosa to study in another school and they all came back, but I do not know anybody who came to Noosa and did not enjoy it, and the same happened to me. I have studied in a few schools here in Australia, but there is no school that I felt so well and happy, and that I have learnt more than in Global Village.
I have also travelled a lot in Australia and I loved all the places I have been, but there is no place that feels more like home than Noosa.
