Our new (and very outgoing!) student Yuki surprised our teachers with his extreme artistic way of getting to know new students in the village.
Yuki is very approachable and wants to make new friends. If you see Yuki and the other 12 new faces among the students make yourself known and spend some time getting to know each other.
Global Village Noosa staff and students would like to welcome our newcomers and are very excited to have you onboard!
We have a great online community for all students to enjoy.
Not only do we have a blog, we have Facebook, Orkut, Youtube, Twitter and Flickr accounts. There really is something for everyone. These are great to keep up-to-date with news and events, but also to show your family and friends, what you have been up to in Australia. Why not have a look, you may find some photos of yourself!
Yarananda Vieira Vilaca and Stefania Reis say that they have had the best time ever!
While studying at GV, Yarananda has been working as a waitress at the The Noosa Surf Club. She said that the job was really fun and a good way to meet people and improve her English. Meanwhile, Stefania collected good wages as a cook at Rocco’s restuarant, which won ‘Best entertainment Restuarant’ at the 2009 Queensland tourism awards.
Both girls say that they have had the best time ever at Noosa, loved their jobs and now have enough money to go travelling before returning to Brazil. They will go to Fraser Island, the Whitsundays, Byon Bay and Melbourne.
We wish you happy and safe travelling girls. We will miss you both.
Jae Ho Lee, Josh to his friends, came straight from the airport to GV Noosa today to introduce us to his new bride, Eun Hye, Yeam.
Josh studied in our Cambridge program in 2007 and was the first Korean student with us to pass the Cambridge Advanced Exam. As a result he secured a job as a banker with KEB, (Korea Exchange Bank) and hopes to get a position with them in Australia in the future.
Josh and Eun Hye married on the weekend and he couldn’t wait to bring his beautiful bride to GV Noosa and introduce her to us. He was happy to see his teachers still here and said he treasured his memories of his time in Noosa.
We wish Josh and Eun Hye a wonderful honeymoon and every blessing for their future. Thanks for coming back to say hello to us.
We had a surprise visitor this week when Yuki Amino returned to say hello.
Carly and Yuki.
Yuki studied English at GV Noosa in 2005/2006 and on his return to Japan he opened a surf shop in Syo Nan. He says that he loves his job but misses the Sunshine Coast. He was especially happy to catch up with his homestay family again. Good to see you Yuki and thank you for the lovely Japanese fan that you brought us.

Anita is the third Eggenschwiler daughter to study at GV Noosa. Her sister Sabine came four years ago prior to becoming a nurse. She loved it so much that she recommended us to her sister Monika who studied here two years ago. Monika is now doing a Communications degree in Switzerland.
Anita says that she has had a wonderful two months and the time has passed too quickly. She feels that the best thing about Noosa is that there is so much to do. “I was never bored” she said, “the beaches are right here and it is easy to get to Brisbane and even the Whitsunday Islands”. “I want to come back again, it has been the best time ever”.
Global Village English Centres welcomed a new addition to the Australian side of the family this week with the official opening of GV Byron Bay!
GV Byron Bay is located in one of the most popular beach resort locations on the Australian coast, about 90 minutes south of Brisbane or about 40 minutes south of the Gold Coast.
The school has opened with a great group of students from all over the world.
We always love to hear from past students. Tomislav Buljevic sent this photo and message.
Dear Becky,
I’m the Croatian guy who attended CAE course from Jan to Apr 2008.
I have returned to Croatia, worked as a guide till Nov, then renewed my flat and decided to do the CPE exam here in Croatia in December. I’ve just got the result, I’ve passed! I believe I’ve passed because of my whole experience at GV Noosa. Thank you very much for everything. I’m now working as a translator and interpreter and hopefully I will get a job in the EU institutions. Say hi to Wendy for me, she was a great teacher.
I hope you like the photo, (Australian reptile activity).
All the best wishes,
Bruna Ehnke from Brazil, who is now studying at Sunshine Coast TAFE in nearby Mooloolaba, recently returned to GV Noosa and was happy to share some great memories of her time with us.
Bruna (centre, in white) and friends at GV Noosa
When I first came to Australia in 2005, I did not know what to expect and what would happen, but just a few days after I arrived here, I realised that it would be great.
I decided to come to Noosa the very first time I heard about here, and it was the best thing I could have done!
Noosa is just amazing! Wonderful beaches, the beautiful National Park, peaceful, quiet and exciting at the same time and there are a lot of things to do.
The wildlife here is beautiful and nobody believes me when I say that once there was a koala in my garden
There were no Brazilians here, so it was very good for my studies, as I had to speak English all the time.
The school is also great. I studied for ten months at GV Noosa, and each day I learnt and did something new. The teachers and staff are all so nice and always willing to help and answer our needs about studies or even problems we have outside the school. It may be a bit hard in the beginning, but it is so good when you realise how fast you can learn here and how much you can do by yourself.
The experience to live with an Australian family and have friends from the entire world was great, and that is why I decided to come back to do further studies here.
I have many friends that left GV Noosa to study in another school and they all came back, but I do not know anybody who came to Noosa and did not enjoy it, and the same happened to me. I have studied in a few schools here in Australia, but there is no school that I felt so well and happy, and that I have learnt more than in Global Village.
I have also travelled a lot in Australia and I loved all the places I have been, but there is no place that feels more like home than Noosa.

Note: Bruna has a great youtube link out there, too – See it here
As you can see me and the other students from 2004’s two FCE classes are still in touch. I miss the good times we had at school and I hope I can come back soon for a visit.
Since I’ve been in Noosa I continued my travels all over the world. I’ve been to Hawaii, Sweden, England, Spain, Italy and Germany. But my favourite country is still Australia.
Now I work in a big pharmacy in the city where I grew up and since october I live in my first own appartement, only a couple of minutes away from work and the city center. I have a wonderful boyfriend and I love him very much.
After 24 weeks at GV Noosa Matthew Kim says it is too hard to leave.
“This school is so nice for me. The teachers are gorgeous, the students really funny and I love it because I could meet many foreign students and it was very good for my English. I love the Noosa weather and I could enjoy swimming and surfing because everyday is sunny. It was my first time abroad. I can’t forget this place.”
Dos Becky says, “Cool cat Matt in the hat gets the girls”. Goodbye Matthew we will miss your big smile”.
It is always good to keep in touch with former GV Noosa students and to find out what they are doing back in their own country or elsewhere in the world.
This week we were delighted to hear from Anne Ditte, who is now back in Denmark and putting her Noosa experience to great use in her new job:
“Hi, I’m Anne Ditte from Denmark. I went to Noosa in March 2008. I studied the part-time General course for 3 weeks. I LOVED Noosa, the city had such a wonderful relaxed atmosphere surrounded with the beach and the National Park. The school and the tuition were a good mix of being serious and having fun at the same time. The level was high, which meant that you had to challenge yourself and I feel like I’ve learnt a lot in those three weeks, especially because the teaching materials were high standard and you got through lots of subjects, which helped me to get a bigger vocabulary. I met so many wonderful people at school and I’m so fortunate to still be in contact with some of them! After my stay in Noosa I travelled around Australia for 2 months and after that I came home to Denmark, where I got a job at the language travel agency Bundgård Rejser. I love my job here at Bundgård Rejser and I get to use the English I learnt in Noosa every day.”
Akiko Iwata returned to Noosa this week to say hello.
Akiko
“I am back for just one week on holiday, but I wanted to say thank you to you because I now have a great job in Tokyo.
I studied English here for over a year and I did both the IELTS course and Cambridge. Because my English was good I was able to get work as a concierge with Ascot International Group. Nearly 90% of our guests are foreigners and I use my English all the time.
There are a lot of job opportunities for young people with good English in Tokyo now. I was interested to hear that you are now offering the Cambridge Business Exam Course. That would be perfect for anyone wanting to work in this industry.”
There is no better way to stay in touch with your classmates and teachers than by joining the GV Noosa Facebook Group!
You can join the Noosa Group here – http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=7679096274 . If you don’t have a Facebook account already, you will need to register. It only takes about 2 minutes and it’s well worth being a part of the web’s largest social networking site!
Sayaka Nagano took a break from her busy life in Sydney to visit her Noosa friends.
Saya graduated from GV Noosa four months ago and is now working in a popular Sydney cafe. She said, “I love Noosa and this school and I miss everybody so much. I really had fun here and I will come back”.
Saya was a keen surfer and the surf is better here also…isn’t it! We miss you too. xx Becky
Maki studied at GV Noosa for one year in 2003 and then attended years 11 and 12 of high school and is just about to graduate from Griffiths University in Brisbane
Me and my boyfriend of two years
Maki writes, ”I can’t believe that I am just about to graduate from university with a bachelor of International business’. I still remember the great time I had in Noosa and my friends and teachers. It is great that we have been able to keep in touch for all this time”.
“How is everything? Is school fantastic? I’m in Brazil but I’m going to work on a ship next week in Italy. This post card is San Paulo, the most important city in Brazil. Paulista avenue is the where important business happen here. I miss everybody. See ya, Mariana.”
Mariana is having a great time working on a boat and is now in Greece.

Tai Chun CHENG from Taiwan, studied English at GV Noosa in 2006 in order to pass the entry requirements for an Australian high school.
Tai graduated from GV Noosa at the end of 2006 and attended Sunshine Beach State High School. He says that he had a fantastic time in Noosa, both at our college and at the high school where he had the opportunity to tour north Queensland with the school orchestra.
After graduating, he travelled around Australia and he is now studying international business at Schiller University in Heidelberg. He writes “It is such a beautiful town, an hour away from Frankfurt. Everything has been great so far but I still miss Australia form time to time, especially Noosa, both in the English college and at high school.”
We received a post card from Christian today, he spent 14 weeks at GV Noosa and left in December 07
Hello everybody!
A final card from Australia. After two months in Melbourne at my cousin’s place , a nice stay in Tasmania , a family weekend on the Great Ocean Road and two weeks in New Zealand, I’m back in OZ! I went to Sydney last week for a last goodbye to all my friends and I’m now spending my last week in Perth with my uncle. I’m going back to Switzerland after almost one year in OZ! So sad. Greetings, Christian.
Uta Mallien and Sabrina Hirth say that returning to Noosa felt like coming home.
After completing the Cambridge First Certificate course at Noosa in March 2007, both Uta and Sabrina were accepted into Berlin University to study law. They missed Noosa so much that they have returned to study for the IELTS exam during their semester break and hope to one day work as lawyers in Australia.
They have joined our advanced general English class with Wendy Ward and are studying IELTS in the afternoons with Anjali Sheppard and Mike McDermott.
Hey guys, these two girls are beautiful, intelligent and SINGLE!
